Resume-Now
Company: Bold, maker of Resume-Now · Role: Sr. SEO Manager, in-house SEO team (full time, nearly two years) · Focus: SEO, AI tools, user flows, testing · Site: resume-now.com
Bold builds career tools for job seekers, and Resume-Now is its AI resume builder, with more than 43 million resumes created on the platform. I spent nearly two years as Sr. SEO Manager on Bold's in-house SEO team, working mainly on resume-now.com during the stretch when AI changed both how people write resumes and what they search for.
The challenge: a mature site in a category that was changing fast
Resume-Now already had strong traffic and a proven product. But searchers were moving from “resume builder” and “resume templates” to “AI resume builder” and task-level queries like summaries, bullet points and skills. Every major competitor was chasing the same terms. At the same time, the brand was going through a refresh, so the site was changing underneath the rankings it had already earned.
The opportunity wasn't more blog content. It was making the product itself the answer to the search.
What I did
1. Built a suite of AI tools that match search intent
I built the AI tools that now sit at the center of the site, each one targeting a specific job-seeker search:
- AI Resume Summary Generator writes a professional summary from a job title and experience.
- AI Resume Skills Generator suggests the hard and soft skills that fit a role.
- AI Bullet Point Generator turns duties into achievement-focused resume bullets.
- AI Resume Review gives feedback on a finished resume.
- ATS Resume Checker tests whether a resume will get through applicant tracking systems.
A searcher who needs help with one part of a resume gets a working result on the page, not an article about it. Each tool ranks for its own queries and is a natural entry point into the full builder.
2. Designed flows from search to subscription
Ranking only matters if visitors keep going. I mapped how people arrived from search and shaped the flows from tool to builder to checkout, so organic visitors reached value quickly and the path to a paid plan felt like the next step rather than a wall.
3. Created landing pages for high-intent keywords
I developed new landing pages for high-intent searches and paired them with UX improvements to the conversion path, so each page matched what the searcher wanted and moved them toward building a resume.
4. Tested before scaling
I built an A/B testing roadmap to validate changes with data before rolling them out. In a high-traffic funnel, small wins compound and untested changes can cost real revenue, so testing was part of the SEO process rather than an afterthought.
5. Carried rankings through the brand refresh
I helped the refreshed Resume-Now brand launch without giving up the search visibility the old one had built, so the new design and messaging landed on pages that kept their rankings.
Results
- #1 on Google for “AI resume builder,” one of the most competitive terms in the category.
- 15% revenue increase from the SEO channel.
- 47% more online subscriptions from organic visitors.
What this shows
The best SEO work at a product company happens where search and product meet. When the tool is the answer to the query, rankings, engagement and revenue reinforce each other. Leading SEO in-house on a site at this scale taught me to treat SEO as product work: build what the searcher needs, measure it and keep testing.
